TRANSLATION.

25 AT # I have submitted to His Excellency the Viceroy of the Two Kwang your letter setting forth the various points discussed at the interview which I had with His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong some time ago in connection with the questions of extradition and the despatch of detectives or spies to each others' territories. The Viceroy is deeply grateful to His Excellency the Governor for the friendly assistance so readily rendered in all matters; and concurs in all the measures detailed, under ten heads, in your letter. His Excellency directs me to request you to inform His Excellency the Governor in this sense, and to say that in the course of the next few days he will depute the Tao tai Superintending the Police of Kuangtung, and myself to Hongkong to wait upon His Excellency the Governor; and, after due arrangements with the Captain

of Superintendent of Police at Hongkong, to decide upon a date on which the measures agreed upon in connection with extradition and the despatch of detectives or spies to each others' territ- ories, will be definitely carried out.
